Background
Since 1994 Petima has been owned and maintained by professional boat builder Peter Moeller. Petima has been on a World Circumnavigation since 1999. In the Summer of 1999 Peter renovated and reconstructed Petima for World Cruising. In the last 20 years she has proven time and time again that she meets all long term cruising and sailing requirements. She is a spacious yacht, easy and safe to sail. She is good under sail and reliable under motor.
Petima is built from the highest quality materials and maintained to a very high standard. Petima is constructed from slow growing Norwegian Pine on laminated 'S' shaped Oak beams. Pilot house is constructed in solid teak. The deck is a double layer of teak (10mm + 15mm with a fibreglass layer between). The mast is constructed of laminated knot free Norwegian Pine with one spreader. She has a long keel with 3 tonne lead protected by a stainless steel shoe. All Petimas wood is still the original covered in clear varnish. Against all general opinion Petima is easy to maintain and at a low cost.
She is a fantastic cruising boat. She is practical, spacious and fully equipped for blue water cruising. She is comfortable and safe in all kinds of weather conditions. She was made for the Baltic Sea and any boat constructed for the Baltic sea can sail anywhere in the World.
